Introduction

Trinity Justice Ministry (TJM) established in July 2004, the result of the creative vision of Rev. Lesley F. Shannon, a former New York City Correction’s Officer. He envisioned a prison ministry that would reach beyond the incarcerated and their families to the community at large.

Purpose

Trinity Justice Ministry seeks to provide a host of referral and outreach services to family and supporters of the currently or previously incarcerated and their families. TJM is a collective of diverse, committed members of The St .Paul Community Baptist Church and our partner-in-ministry, Mt. Pisgah  Baptist Church.

Scripture

“...I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me…”
Matt 25:36 NKJV

“...Assuredly, I say to you inasmuch, as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”
Matt 25:40 NKJV

Mission

The mission of the Trinity Justice Ministry (TJM) of St. Paul Community Baptist is to restore justice and reconnect formerly incarcerated people to their families and communities through healing, hope and compassion.   The Trinity Justice Ministry addresses the services and needs of persons affected by reentry.

The ministry as a whole will:

  • Visit people in prison who are about to be released.
  • Develop, coach and create relationships that will build trust and provide a personal platform to provide aftercare as people released from prison attempt to resettle into society.
  • Refer participants to viable service/personal development programs.
  • Conduct family support groups for the family members of persons in prison or recently released from prison.
  • Conduct various events, discussion groups, and seminars providing awareness to individuals affected by incarceration.
  • Publish newsletters and other material that seek to inform and educate on the various components that make up the criminal justice system.  These materials will provide readers with important information on parole, probation, corrections, policing and the judicial system.
