Griots Photography Ministry - spcbcgriotsministry@gmail.com

The ministry of Communications & Special Projects ensures that the image of St. Paul Community Baptist Church is consistent and directly synergistic with the mission and vision of the church as directed by our Senior Pastor. Our work is detailed and complex as we endeavor to spread the Good News through conceptualizing ideas, thoughts or group identification internally and externally through print and visual communication tools (weekly bulletin, ASPIRE Magazine), as well as through the world wide web (www.spcbc.com) and social networking outlets such as Facebook® (St. Paul Community Baptist Church – BKNY), Twitter® (@SPCBCBKNY), Flickr®, LinkedIn® and more. Our job is to educate our community and followship through unique and relevant ways reflective of the 21st century.

In January 2009, in conjunction with the initial meetings for the SPCBC quarterly publication, ASPIRE MAGAZINE, a call for volunteers was made by the St. Paul Community Department of Communications & Special Projects to join a photography ministry that would be dedicated to providing professional-quality images that captured the character, voice and spirit of St. Paul Community Baptist Church in pictures.

After months of training and meeting with our volunteer instructor & SPCBC member, professional photographer Rob Munroe (www.munroephotography.com), the small, but dedicated team of volunteers chose a name, Griots (French, broadly translated as "storyteller") and began telling our ministry story through still photography.  Most of the photos on our website, in our weekly bulletin, used externally and of course those in ASPIRE Magazine have been shot by The Griots.  Take a moment to visit the Griots Photography Ministry Gallery next time you're in our building located on the upper level near Elders Hall.
